Security monitoring for managed Oracle environments

InfoSapient monitors security events across the Oracle Linux servers, hosts, and platforms it manages. Because we also build and run these environments, monitoring is set up around how each one works.

Security monitoring across five kinds of source Operating system and endpoint telemetry come from every managed host. Database audit events, application logs, cloud security events, and virtualization telemetry are added per environment. The monitoring platform applies SIEM, EDR, and XDR, and its alerts pass into the agreed operational workflow. Capabilities

SIEM, EDR, and XDR

Three views of the same environment: its events, its hosts, and the links between them.

SIEM

Security information and event management

Security events from supported systems are collected in one place, checked against detection rules mapped to MITRE ATT&CK, and correlated into alerts that can be investigated.

EDR

Endpoint detection and response

An endpoint agent on supported hosts records process, file, and network activity, detects malicious behavior, and shows what happened on a host. Response actions such as isolating a host are used only where the operating system and platform license support them, and only as agreed.

XDR

Extended detection and response

Endpoint, operating system, cloud, and other connected telemetry are correlated, so an alert on one system can be traced across the others it touches.

What we monitor

Five telemetry sources

Sources are agreed for each environment. Operating system and endpoint telemetry are the baseline. The others are added where the environment supports them and the service agreement includes them.

Context

Why monitoring sits with infrastructure management

Security events make more sense to the people who know what normal looks like on those systems.

  • Same hosts, same team

Endpoint telemetry comes from the same Oracle Linux servers InfoSapient patches and administers, so a security event can be checked against planned changes.

  • Database context

Database audit events are read alongside activity on the database host.

  • Cloud context

OCI audit events are read alongside the workloads they affect.

  • Less noise

Detection rules are tuned during onboarding, so routine Oracle activity such as backups, patching, and batch jobs does not bury real alerts.

  • One workflow

Security alerts enter the same operational workflow as infrastructure incidents.

Service agreements

Scope of service

What happens after an alert is set out in each service agreement: which systems and sources are monitored, when alerts are reviewed, and how investigation, ticketing, escalation, and remediation support are handled.

Security monitoring is delivered as part of InfoSapient’s management of your Oracle environment, not as a standalone security service.

Getting started

From scope to steady operation

Coverage is agreed first, then deployed and tuned before alerts reach the workflow.

  1. Scope

Agree the hosts, databases, cloud tenancies, and sources to cover.

  2. Deploy

Install the endpoint agent on supported hosts and connect the agreed sources.

  3. Tune

Fit detection rules to the environment’s normal activity.

  4. Operate

Handle alerts through the agreed workflow and adjust coverage as the environment changes.
